Grooming Policies

Please read all policies carefully. New customers will be asked to sign waivers regarding each policy.

If your pet requires an additional fee during the grooming process, you will be consulted before any action is taken.

Aggression

The safety of your dog and mine are always the primary goal.  I will not groom overly aggressive dogs. I maintain full authority to determine whether or not your dog is too aggressive to complete the groom.

It is the owner’s responsibility to notify Every Color Dog of any previous or newly developed aggressive behaviors.

  • If a groom cannot be completed, you will be charged for the time spent and services rendered until that point.

  • If no services could be rendered, you will be charged a minimum fee of $45 for the visit and attempt.

  • Pet parents are not allowed to assist in the grooming process.

2

Anal Glands

Every Color Dog does not express anal glands. It is of your dog’s best interest that he/she be examined by a licensed veterinarian.

3

Dematting

Knots happen, I understand that. Manageable knotting, not too close to the skin or in sensitive areas, may be brushed out if the owner so chooses, and most importantly, if the dog allows it.

  • Manageable knots brush out is $1 per minute with a maximum of 15 minutes.

Extensive matting requiring a full shave down is a lengthy process and can be dangerous when rushed.

  • A $20 shave down fee will be added to “The Essentials” groom package.

4

Ear Hair Plucking

Every color dog does offer ear plucking at no extra cost. You may refuse this service.

For dogs that grow ear hair, plucking can be necessary to allow proper air flow into the canal and prevent infection. However, overly plucking hairs can cause micro-abrasions and in turn, cause irritation. The best method is to examine the ear canal for air flow. If, and only when the canal seems full of hair, a groomer should pull lightly and only what hairs easily detach. There should never be pain during the ear plucking process.

5

Flea & Tick

If ANY fleas are found during the grooming process, the $10 flea and tick shampoo will be added on to grooming services.

If your dog is found to have multiple fleas and/or ticks, a thorough nose to tail inspection and removal will be performed. This requires extensive time and cleaning procedures.

  • A $25+ Full Body Removal fee will be added on to your groom package, as well as the $10 flea and tick shampoo.

6

Medical Conditions/Medications

Please notify Every Color Dog of any and all medical conditions or past major injuries. Please be prepared with a written list of current medications. Please notify Every Color Dog of any calming aids given to your dog prior to their groom.

7

Payment

Payments accepted are cash and debit/credit card. NJ requires sales tax for grooming services, as pets are considered property.

8

Photo Release

Pets' photos will be taken for internal grooming notes. In addition, you will be asked whether or not you give permission for your pet’s photo to be taken for public release via social media, the business website and/or advertising.

9

Senior Pets

I am a certified geriatric groomer. It is a passion of mine to care for elderly dogs and help them feel their best on my table. Your dog’s comfort is of the utmost importance. Most elderly dogs receive a simple, easily managed haircut. Simple styled elements will be considered on a case-by-case basis, as well as, at each grooming session. What your senior tolerates one month, they may not the next, and vice versa.

You will be asked at each intake for a general health update.

10

Time

You will be charged based on the time spent with your dog. I perform each groom in an efficient manner, while prioritizing safety and your dog’s comfort.

Since I charge based on time, the appointment begins 5 minutes after I park. This allows us both a few minutes to check in. I have a timer clock in the van. You will be texted when the groom is complete and the dog is properly dressed again in collar, leash, harness, etc. The appointment time ends when I see you are available to retrieve your dog. (Example: You exit your house and are approaching the van.)

Vaccinations

Rabies:

Up to date rabies vaccinations are mandatory for licensed pets in NJ. Every Color Dog requires proof of rabies vaccination after 12 months of age.

Canine Distemper:

Every Color Dog requires proof of the DHPP vaccine after 6 months of age. Before 6 months, Every Color Dog requires the distemper vaccine and the first distemper booster for puppies. The first booster is typically given between 10-12 weeks of age. The first booster also begins vaccinations for canine hepatitis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus (DHPP.)

It is the owner’s responsibility to stay up to date on their pet’s vaccinations and present updated records to Every Color Dog.

12

Veterinarian

You will be asked for consent for Every Color Dog to have contact with your veterinarian. This is to confirm vaccinations, and in the event of an injury, to discuss treatment and billing.

13

Video Recording

A video recording device is located in the van to record grooming sessions for insurance purposes.

14

Weather

Every Color Dog only operates out of the mobile van. If the roads and/or weather conditions are determined to be inoperable, you will be notified immediately and all efforts will be made to reschedule ASAP. Some examples of weather conditions that limit the vans operations are excessive heat/cold, snow, ice, lightning, high wind speeds, flooding, etc.

The owner is responsible for the condition and access of their property at all times, including during weather events. Please notify Every Color Dog if you are unable to remove ice or snow from your property as well as common issues, such as regular flooding, etc. Every Color Dog does not operate during a state of emergency.
